Step by step
1. Unplug or switch off devices on the affected circuit.
2. Open the panel door (not the inner cover). A tripped breaker sits between ON and OFF.
3. Push it firmly to OFF, then to ON.
4. Turn devices back on one at a time. If one trips it again, that device or its cord is likely the problem.

Safety rules
Stand to the side and keep your hand dry. Never remove the inner panel cover. Do not use a bigger breaker. If the panel is wet, scorched, buzzing or the breaker feels hot, stay away and call a professional.

Label the panel
Turn breakers off one at a time and note what loses power. Mark each one clearly. A good label saves time in an emergency. A circuit tracer tool can help but is not required.

When it keeps tripping
Repeated tripping signals overload, a short circuit or a ground fault. Read our full guide on why breakers trip, and call an electrician if resetting does not hold.

Frequently asked questions
Why does a breaker feel warm?
Breakers get slightly warm under load. If one is hot or discolored, switch it off and call an electrician.
Can I reset a breaker repeatedly?
No. If it trips again right away, there is a fault that should be found and fixed.
What is the main breaker?
It shuts off power to the whole panel. Know where it is and how to turn it off in an emergency.
